Over 40 years experience in music education at the elementary, secondary and university levels as a teacher, conductor, performer and administrator. Mr. Blanton’s experience includes 15 years teaching band and orchestra in the public schools of Richardson and Klein, Texas; 10 years as Director of Bands and Professor of Music Education at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas; and 15 years as Director of Fine Arts for the Klein School District in suburban Northwest Houston. The district also honored Mr. Blanton by naming the music facility at Klein High School the “Bob Blanton Music Wing” in recognition to his service to the district.
He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The University of North Texas and West Texas A&M and has worked toward a Ph.D. in Music Education at UNT. In addition, he has earned the Faculty of Fine Arts Diploma in Conducting and Wind Literature from the University of Calgary.
Since his retirement and relocation to the Fort Myers area, Mr. Blanton has been able to pursue both his long-time interest in the Suzuki teaching philosophy along with his passion for classical guitar performance. He is currently accepting a limited number of students.
